Stages, progress verification and formal closeout
Track reported and verified progress, then preserve a final result with a formal closeout.
Stages are optional. Owners and admins set them up in Field operations → Stages: add them one by one, Use a template (company templates or starter examples) or Save as company template. Templates are copied; later template changes don't affect the job.
Progress: members assigned to the job can start a stage and Report complete. Only owners and admins can Verify complete (after a report) or Reopen with a reason. Reported complete is the field's claim; Verified complete is the review.
Stages never change costs, forecasts or results. Finishing every stage doesn't complete the job, and Complete job doesn't verify stages.
Complete job sets the job to Completed, which can't be undone; it never turns a forecast or commitment into an actual cost. Completed is not a formal closeout.
Before closeout, resolve open commitments and set Forecast to complete to zero, and review warnings such as unposted employee hours or missing actual costs.
Formal closeout (owners and admins, on a Completed job): open History & closeout → Formal job closeout → Review closeout, check the figures, tick the confirmation and choose Confirm permanent closeout.
Verify: Historical result at closeout appears with who recorded it. It is frozen and one per job: later cost changes show as Current recorded position and never recalculate it. Stage status changes are refused after closeout.
Recording a WHY reason is separate and never closes a job. The result is an operational managerial figure, not cash, accounting profit or a tax result.
