Cash accounts, receipts, payments and reversals
Record money in and out, move money between your accounts and correct mistakes with reversals.
Who: recording receipts, recording payments, transfers and reversals are separate owner grants. You need a cash or bank account in the same currency, added under Finance → Accounts.
1. Open the receivable and choose Record receipt, or open the payable and choose Record payment: date, account, amount, method and reference. One receipt or payment can settle installments of the same obligation. 2. For money moved between your own accounts, use Cash & banks → Transfer between accounts.
Paid vs unpaid: an installment is paid only when recorded receipts or payments cover it; partial amounts leave the rest outstanding. Due dates alone never mark anything paid.
Corrections: recorded money movements are never edited or deleted. Choose Reverse and give a reason: the original stays in history, a reversal is recorded, and the outstanding balance goes back up. Both legs of a transfer are reversed together. A movement already matched to a bank line must be unmatched first. Reversing a payment never changes linked job costs.
Balances: an account's recorded balance is its opening balance plus every recorded movement from the opening date. It is RHACOVA's record, not a balance confirmed by your bank.
Verify: Cash & banks → Transactions lists every movement, marks reversals, and shows transfers apart from money in and out. Receipts and payment confirmations can be downloaded as PDFs; they are not tax documents.
